Born into a family of musicians, Noam Zur decided to study conducting at the age of 15. His repertoire includes about 50 operas and more than 450 symphonic works from all styles and periods, which he has performed on five continents in over 20 years of professional experience.

Between 2005 and 2007 he served as Principal Resident Conductor and Deputy Music Director of the Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra of Heidelberg, and from 2008 to 2010 as Principal Resident Conductor of the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.In the years 2011-2015 he was the “Principal Conductor & Artistic Associate” with the KammerPhilharmonie Frankfurt in Germany.

In 2017, Noam Zur assumed the post of Music Director and Chief Conductor (Director Titular) of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Salta in Argentina, a position he has held until November 2020.

Noam Zur is also active as a composer and arranger. His composition “A Month of Sundays (Hommage à Steve Reich)” for solo violin and live electronics was premiered by the zamus Köln in a live-streamed concert in December 2020.
In August 2016, he recorded his own arrangement of Debussy’s Préludes (Livre I) for chamber orchestra with the WDR Funkhausorchester Köln for the German Radio. The Préludes have been performed in Germany, Israel, Rumania, the Netherlands, Mexico, and Argentina.

His chamber orchestra arrangement of William Grant Still’s “Dismal Swamp” was commissioned by Maestro Kenneth Woods and the English Symphony Orchestra. In July 2022, the English Symphony Orchestra gave the world première of this orchestration under the direction of Maestro Woods.

Noam Zur has recorded for Classic Concert Records and for Naxos, as well as extensively for radio, TV and Internet Streams across Europe and Israel, as well as Middle and South America.
