Spanish conductor Alejandro Cantalapiedra (Soria, 1994) is rapidly gaining recognition for his vivid musical leadership and strong structural insight. From 2023 to 2025, he served as Assistant Conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch National Opera, working closely with Lorenzo Viotti and leading guest conductors. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra or Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and conducted Sinfonia Varsovia, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orkest or Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, among others.
His operatic experience includes productions of Lohengrin, Il Trittico, Die Fledermaus, or Peter Grimes, as well as assistant positions at the Teatro Real and Les Arts, Valencia. A prizewinner at the Estoril International Conducting Competition, he is currently a semi-finalist of the Concours de Genève. Committed to education, he has been Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Utrecht Conservatory since 2024.
